What you should know about Horsham Sports & Community Club
The idea of the Horsham Sports and Community Club was born in 1990 when a very trivial group of community minded businessmen, led by Mr Laurie Rudolph, approached around 40 others in the town. In their brief to get the members to the meeting, the ethos was that if the pokes were going to arrive to Horsham then it would be in the communities superior interest to control the profits. The meeting was very healthy attended and it was resolved that around 40 people from Horsham and District, would bear an unsecured loan of around 5K each selfless a starting capital of around 200K to buy a restaurant in Horsham. The idea was to have a full entertainment complicated that provided live shows, meals and of course the option to play poker machines. However, it was over 18 months earlier we were able to install poker machines and urge the club as a packed entertainment complex. However we persevered, albeit through a number of different managers, to where we are today. All board members present freely of their time as volunteers to regulate the governance of The Club. All profits after conventional trading are returned to the local community. Glenn is a loyal Community person, and behind learning about the Club’s business plan he saw this as an opportunity to serve and encourage the Horsham and surrounding Communities therefore accepted the manager’s position. Tony Cynthia started performing 4 years ago, having triumph with their musical style covering maximum country music artists from the last 4 decades. The recommendation of the board will be put to the members at a general meeting following the date that the board made the resolution, and if a majority of 75 of members donate and voting at the general meeting approves the recommendation the member will be elected as an honorary life member. Any person who meets one or more of the succeeding criteria will be an honorary member for the days on which he she meets that criteria: 7.4.1.1. Any person who is attending at the Club’s premises for an official function 7.4.1.2. Any person who is a member of any other club which the board may from time to time determines as providing reciprocal rights and benefits, and is of a category of membership at that other club as approved by the board as eligible for honorary membership 7.4.1.3. Any person whom the board determines to be deserving of being granted honorary membership due to the person’s prominent service to the community or notable services to the Club 7.4.2. All honorary members must yield the Club with their names and addresses in a form as required by the board from time to time. Corporate members, and honorary members will be entitled to the use of the facilities at the Club’s premises and to introduce visitors to the facilities at the Club in accordance with rule 37 and pertinent laws and bylaws adopted from time to time by the board. Every application for membership will be made in writing on a form approved by the board from time to time and will contain the following details: 9.2.1. Full name and signature of the applicant 9.2.2. The category of membership for which the applicant is applying 9.2.3. In the case of an application for club membership: 9.2.3.1. The applicant will nominate any sporting clubs ardor a community based groups to which the applicant is aligned (if any) 9.2.3.2. The applicant will nominate which codes of sport ardor which community based organizations the candidate represents (if any) and 9.2.4. The board will determine by resolution whether or not to confirm the applicant as a new member. If the board does not ratify an applicant as a new member the secretary will as soon as practicable notify the applicant of the resolution and refund any fees paid, and will not be needed to produce reasons for the resolution. The board may, subject to these rules and the pertinent legislation, exercise all such powers and functions as may be exercised by the Club other than those powers and functions that are needed to be exercised by general meetings of the members of the Club and in particular: 16.4.1. The board will be entitled from time to make bylaws for the management of the Club and the conduct of the members and guests, such bylaws are to be communicated to the members in a manner encourage by the board and 16.4.2. The board has the power to perform all such acts and things as appear to the board to be required for the right management of the business and affairs of the Club. Not less than 14 days before to the annual general meeting the secretary will make available to each member eligible to vote in elections a ballot paper for collection at the club premises or upon written request by the member by delivery to the member’s address. Glenn’s professional management skills, experience, knowledge of gaming, personality, respect for Board members, staff, customers and members, positiveness, commitment, leadership and solid work ethic that Glenn bought to our Club has seen HSBC survive and grow to be one of the best Clubs in Victoria. Glenn is a loyal Community person, and after learning about the Club’s business plan he saw this as an opportunity to serve and encourage the Horsham and surrounding Communities therefore accepted the manager’s position. We also know that this was an opportunity for Glenn and Jo to bring up their boys nearer to Jo’s family. Glenn’s willingness to be just one of us by getting his hands dirty, helping to set up table and chairs, working varied hours when necessary, he has been a role model for staff members. Training for staff is paramount with Glenn, who provides routine staff assessments, and every opportunity through work related sessions for staff members to personally grow their skills. Watts Excellence Awards: During Glenn’s former years the Club won several trips for Staff members, and Glenn chose to allocate maximum of these trips to be taken by staff members who excelled in their employment. Glenn is highly respected by his fellow workers and has always adopted a management style that includes the rest of the staff in the development of the Club. He empowers them to better themselves and offer particular levels of customer’s service for the patrons of the Club. Outer of work, Glenn has eternal been involved in sport. A highly regarded footballer in the past, Glenn has a strong involvement with the St Michael’s Football and Netball Club where he held the positions of: Player President Junior coach Canteen coordinator Life Member Highlight this year was being involved with premierships in seniors and reserves football. I could keep listing achievements and participation not knowing where to stop. Glenn is an incredible man and manager, he has achieved a lot more than what his duties asked or expected of him. We sincerely thank Glenn for his notable dedication and everything he has done to yield employment for many people, and Sponsorship monies to numerous groups throughout Horsham, neighboring towns, and districts. He has been and remains pivotal to the development and growth of the HSBC. Due to all the overhead and even more, the Horsham Sports Community Club wishes to recognize the exceptional contribution Glenn has made to the Club and the Community by presenting him with an OUTSTANDING SERVICE MEMBERSHIP of the HSBC.
