The Grampians National Park is Victoria’s forth largest and by far the most diverse of the 34 National Parks.and Its colorful displays of wildflowers and spectacular scenery offers a expansive range of outdoor pastime activities and is one of the Victoria’s most popular tourist destinations. Rugged, awe inspiring sandstone escarpments offering panoramic views of surrounding plains, ancient rock art shelters, different animals and colorful wildflowers have made the Grampians National Park a popular holiday escape. For many thousands of years Aboriginal people have lived in the Grampians and they named their mountain home Gariwerd. The park is a huge place for touring on an extensive network of sealed, dirt or 4WD tracks (depending on road conditions). However, the beauty and mystery of the Grampians is probably best explored on foot. There are more than 160 kilometers of walking tracks ranging from short, easy walks, to day long explorations or difficult overnight expeditions. Mount Stapylton camp ground is an ideal bottom to explore the region. Dark Range contains a rich diversity of plant and animal species and important Aboriginal sites and offers a automatic experience in relative seclusion. The park offers excellent bush walking opportunities. A lengthy walk leads from the Black Range picnic area to spectacular views from the top of the range.
